"Do the Reps..."
How to make change actually stick when we find ourselves under pressure

When things feel unsafe, particularly emotionally and relationally, we don’t rise to our best intentions. We fall back into the deepest patterns of behaviour we’ve already developed, which feel all too familiar.
So familiar, we don’t notice that we’re doing them.
Whether it’s the familiar retreat, a neat sidestep around an issue, or reusing a response we once used, it kept us feeling safe and comfortable from way back when.
The response that once kept us safe.
What my next GRACEWorks podcast guest, Rachel Alexandria, names in this clip is simple, and a bit inconvenient:
Nothing changes unless we practise it.
Not once.
Not intellectually.
But over time.
Like reps in the gym.
When we skip a session, the body forgets.
Most of us already know what to do.
We’ve read the books and have plenty more on the shelf waiting for our attention.
We taken the courses, and some remain unfinished on our hard drives.
And we’ve had the insight, but not practised the next step enough
And then… life happens.
This clip is a small reminder that grace, under pressure, isn’t a revelation.
It’s a practice.
